An airport is a place from where aeroplanes take off and land.
Depending upon the infrastructure an airport may have multile runways
and helipads. An airport also known as airfield, aerodrome and airstrip.
We can distinguish an airport on the basis of their runway. Generally
the airports with a single & less than 1,000 mts runway are known as
smaller airports and the airports having runway of near about 2000 mts
are known as larger airports. The longest public use runway in the world
is at Qamdo Bangda Airport which is in Tibet. Governing bodies of
airports are may be local, regional or national government bodies. For
instance BAA Limited (BAA) operates airports in the United Kingdom,
Fraport manage Frankfurt Airport. In US and canada airports are operated
directly by governmanet entities. As we all know the major role of
airports is in moving people from one destination to another, but their
role is not restricted to the people only they are also responsible for
moving large volumes of cargo. Thus, airports play an important role in
the country economy also.
